Run, Run... As fast as you can!

We had a baking weekend...
Saturday night we baked up the sugar cookie dough that Jacob made at a combined youth activity. They had the head chef from somewhere come and teach them how to make cookies. He did a great job because the sugar cookies were delectable!

I also mixed up some gingerbread dough so that we could make gingerbread houses yesterday. Thanks to Leslie for the perfect recipe! Along with the houses, we made an army of mini gingerbread men (can you see them guarding this house?). Here's the finished product along with some of the "in-progress" photos...
Each of the boys got a house to decorate... next year I'll make Jake and I one too. We enjoyed it as much as the boys!

Joshua added this little "woodpile" to his house :)

We wanted to take some cookies to our neighbors, but Jake suggested the sticky cookies decorated so lovingly by the boys might not look too appetizing to those not in our family. So instead of frosting the cookies for them, we gave them freshly baked cookies with some bags of colored frosting. That way they could enjoy the frosting themselves.
